The 2009 hurricane season is a little more than half over, and thankfully the impact on US residents has been extremely light.  Still the possibility exists for Disney vacations to be impacted by the elements between now and the end of November.  With that in mind, let's take a look at Disney Vacation Club's policies regarding the cancellation and re-scheduling of trips impacted by hurricane warnings.

Disney Vacation Club Member Services will be closing at 2:30pm eastern on Wednesday, September 9, 2009.  The office is expected to re-open at its regularly-scheduled time of 9am eastern on Thursday 9/10.

A quick reminder that Disney Vacation Club will begin accepting reservations for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel on Sunday June 7, 2009 at 9:00am eastern.  Owners at the Grand Californian booking with Home resort vacation points can make reservations for check-ins beginning September 23, 2009.  All reservations are subject to the 11-month booking rules.

Members wishing to book the Grand Californian using points from other Home resorts can begin calling on Sunday June 21, 2009.  These reservations will be subject to the 7-month booking window.  

Be prepared for extended wait times when contacting Member Services on either of these days.

In a MousePlanet.com podcast earlier this year, Disney Vacation Club President Jim Lewis stated that an on-line reservation fature was in the works but provided few specifics.  The new issue of Disney Files Magazine sheds a bit more light on the project.

Disney Vacation Club has established June 7, 2009 as the day when it will begin accepting reservations for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel.  Unfortunately it appears that owners will have no Home resort booking advantage for the first seven weeks of its existence.
