The grand staircase has reopened and there's new carpet throughout the lobby at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
There is light at the end of the tunnel with visible progress throughout the Grand Floridian lobby. The carpeting is all newly installed within the past week. New furniture has also been delivered, seemingly a good fit for the resort theme.
The updated front desk is now open and serving guests. Gone is the massive counter separating cast members from visitors. In its place are smaller workstations which allow for easier one-on-one interactions.
A closer look at one of the new podiums with brightly lit panels behind.
The staircase is open after being closed for several weeks in August. The top photo above showcases both the new carpet and the large mural installed above the stairs. Opposite is an elevator (below) surrounded by new themed decor.
On the far end of the lobby, the former afternoon tea location is still hidden behind barriers. Disney claims a new offering is being planned for this space.
The large birdcage bar is taking shape, but still a ways from opening.
From above, the walls surrounding the new bar, elevator and afternoon tea area give the unavoidable impression that construction work is still taking place. However, many key elements of the overall project have been addressed, paving the way for its eventual completion.
The lobby renovations were originally slated for completion by November 2025. The Thanksgiving holiday may be a reasonable target, giving crews about 6 weeks to wrap-up work. The holiday gingerbread display will not be presented this year at the Grand Floridian, however Disney is reportedly considering other locations for a similar exhibit.
