Crews are making slow and steady progress on the multi-month refurbishment of the main lobby at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
The resort main entry, pictured above, is largely unchanged. The nearby front desk area is still behind walls, while temporary positions have been set up just inside the Porte Cochere.
The large birdcage-themed bar continues to take shape with the framework now in place. Supports for the bar itself have been installed.
At last visit the main stairway was hidden behind construction scrims. The situation is changing daily as new murals are placed on the surrounding walls and replacement carpet installed.
The rear staircase near Sandy Cove Gifts & Sundries was closed off during our last report. Now it has reopened with work seemingly complete. Guests must use either this stairway or the resort elevators to move between the first and second floors.
The far end of the lobby which once hosted the afternoon tea service is now behind walls.
Viewed from above, significant updates are under way for the space.
All of this work is taking place inside the lobby. Fortunately, exterior work is largely limited to the resort's convention center which is currently hidden behind scaffold while the roof is replaced and other physical updates completed.
The lobby modifications are scheduled for completion by November 2025. The holiday gingerbread display will not be presented this year at the Grand Floridian, however Disney is reportedly considering other locations for a similar exhibit.
