For just the second time in its 18 year history, Disney Vacation Club has taken steps to reallocate the points charts for existing DVC resorts. The result--more expensive trips for those who favor Sunday - Thursday stays.
It's time for our annual reminder that Disney Vacation Club Member Services telephone lines tend to be quite busy throughout the month of January. This is the start of the 11-month booking window for reservations for December 2009.
The entire 5-6 week period from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day tends to be one of the busiest on the DVC calendar. Between the low point costs for early-December, holiday decorations and festivities and the need for many owners to travel during school vacation periods, many members book 11 months in advance and the resorts are near capacity for that entire timeframe.
Be prepared for busy signals and long waits when contacting Member Services at least through the end of January.
Multiple sources are reporting that Disney Vacation Club Member Services representatives are providing the date February 11, 2009 as the start of Disney's new on-line checkin service. Arriving guests will be able to supply additional details using DVCMember.com prior to their arrival, which will significantly speed-up the process of obtaining room keys and materials upon arrival at the resort.
