Disney Vacation Club recently updated its minimum purchase thresholds for several resorts, allowing current owners to purchase as few as 25 additional points.
Over the years, DVC has tweaked its minimum purchase amounts a variety of times. For first-time buyers, the minimum has varied from 230 points to 160 points to 150 points. More recently, it was lowered to 100 points for many resorts, with the caveat that owners must still hold at least 150 points purchased direct from DVC in order to qualify for most of the Membership Extras perk programs.
For many years, the minimum add-on purchase stood at 25 points for current members. But with newer resorts like Disney's Riviera Resort and The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, a higher minimum of 50 points was mandated.
Recently, that threshold was lowered to just 25 points for new add-ons at all properties.
These small 25-points direct purchases are typically not eligible for promotional discounts. Buyers must pay the full list price for each DVC resort. Also one-time fees like closing costs may add a disproportionately high amount to the total purchase. Lastly, add-ons of just 25 points are typically not able to be financed direct through Disney Vacation Club.
