About 3/4 of the rooms in Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort have now been updated as the project approaches its September 2025 completion target.
Shortly before the end of June, another batch of Disney Vacation Club villas at Bay Lake Tower was completed and reopened to guests. When the year-long refurbishment project was announced last year, indications were that the building would be renovated in 4 phases. Each phase would involve roughly 25% of the resort's rooms, and take about 3 months to complete.
The first phase began in September 2024 and the newly-redesigned rooms made their debut in time for the holiday season. The next batch--along with the skybridge connecting Bay Lake Tower to the Contemporary Tower--closed in January and were completed by April.
The final batch of villas will close for renovation soon, perhaps after the July 4th holiday. Once that occurs, all incoming guests will be guaranteed of receving a renovated room; 75% of the villas will be updated and the other 25% in-process.
This is the first hard goods refurbishment of Bay Lake Tower since its opening in 2009. Changes include new floor and wall coverings, pull-down beds in Deluxe Studio rooms and the living room of larger villas, colorful new custom artwork and more.
The villa refurbishment is expected to be completed by September 2025. However, the resort's Bay Cove Pool and pool bar will be closed from January to May 2026 for updates. Disney has also issued a notice that work may be performed on other areas of the Contemporary Resort through July 2026.
