Multiple sources are reporting that the Disney board has approved a budget of nearly one billion dollars worth of renovations to Disney’s California Adventure theme park. MiceAge.com’s Al Lutz and the increasingly insightful Blue Sky Disney blog both commented on this development last week, declaring the $1Bil investment as being more than Disney originally spent to build DCA.
In a move that could eventually pave the way for a DVC resort on or near Anaheim’s Disneyland Resort, a California developer will ask Anaheim City Council to delay a vote regarding the use of land adjacent to the Disneyland complex.
Chuck Oberleitner posted an article at his website O-Meon.com in which he speculates that a DVC addition to the Grand Californian will be announced at June’s press event for the opening of the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.
On the heels of last week’s L.A. Times article espousing the future of DVC at Disneyland Resort comes a contradictory piece from website LaughingPlace.com:
An article appearing in this week’s Los Angeles Times attempts to shed some light on The Walt Disney Company’s plans for further expansion on the left coast…assuming it can get its way with Anaheim lawmakers. Quoting Disney website author Jim Hill, the article touts Disney’s dreams of “…changing Anaheim into Orlando—making this into a national and international tourist space.”
