Changes are coming to Disney's Grand Californian Hotel during the upcoming refurbishment of hotel rooms, Disney Vacation Club villas and Napa Rose.
Via the Disney Parks Blog, Disney shared a preview of new decor and enhancements planned for its flagship resort on the west coast.
The 48 Disney Vacation Club villas are slated for a hard goods refurbishment, the first since the resort expansion opened back in 2009. The image above reflects one of the resort's hotel rooms, which do vary a bit in design compared to the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. However, it seems apparent that Disney plans to maintain the heavy Arts & Crafts influence in the updated room decor. Included in the refresh are new carpeting, upholstry, bedding and accents. Changes to the DVC villas are expected to encompass the kitchens and bathrooms as well. Disney has not explicitly stated if the newer style pull-down sofa beds will be included, however they have been added to nearly every DVC resort refurbished since 2019.
The parks blog story also states that rooms will have artwork that was commissioned from local plein air painters.
The villa refurbishment is expected to begin sometime in the first half of 2025.
Elsewhere, Napa Rose is scheduled to close for several months, beginning in spring 2025. According to the parks blog story:
"The restaurant will have a rustic elegance and will be a tapestry of California’s storied history of wine and wine making, using natural textures such as reclaimed French oak flooring and columns (a type of wood used to make wine barrels), hand-pinged artisan metals, leathers, deep colors of cabernet, and an eye-catching chandelier inspired by California’s Mission grapevines."
Updates will expand the counter dining space. Outdoor patio dining will also add capacity, along with two new fireplaces. Napa Rose is expected to reopen in fall 2025.
Temporary dining enhancements are planned for the resort during the Napa Rose closure, though specifics have not yet been announced.
