From its inception, Disney Vacation Club seemed designed to make larger One, Two and Three Bedroom villas more affordable for owners seeking a deluxe vacation experience.  Of course, larger rooms come at a premium price.  Smaller Studio rooms provide many families with what they consider adequate space at an even more economical cost.  

 Topic:  Would you rather spend more time in a smaller Deluxe Studio room or less time in a One Bedroom or larger villa?

The primary appeal in Disney's timeshare system lies in its Walt Disney World and Disneyland destinations.  Disney Vacation Club provides owners with the ability to stay in those on-site accommodations for a fraction of the cash rate over an extended period of time.  

However DVC also has resorts at Hilton Head Island, SC, Vero Beach, FL and Oahu, Hawaii.  Those resorts--in addition to with non-Disney trades through RCI--may be of interest to potential owners who are not sold on the idea of a Disney theme park vacation year-after-year.

 Topic:  What advice would you give to prospective owners who are equally (or more) interested in the off-site destinations as they are in the DVC resorts located adjacent to Disney theme parks ?

Earlier in 2015 Walt Disney World eliminated the non-expiration option from theme park tickets. Non-Expiring tickets of up to 10 days allowed guests--particularly DVC members--to make occasional visits to the theme parks and spread out the use of a 10-day pass over many trips.

From this point forward, the only options available to guests are multi-day Magic Your Way passes which expire 14 days after the first use and Annual Passes.  

 Topic:  Prior to their discontinuation, did you use non-expiring theme park tickets?  If so, how will you adjust to their absence?

Written into Disney Vacation Club contracts is a "Right of First Refusal" clause which allows DVC to buy-back a contract whenever the owner enters into an agreement to sell.  The uncertain manner in which DVC has exercised this Right of First Refusal over the years has undeniably had an effect on the marketplace.  Higher prices may benefit some sellers while simultaneously excluding buyers who are not comfortable with the market rate.  Having a contract taken via ROFR may also have a damaging psychological effect on potential buyers. 

 Topic:  Overall, is Disney's Right of First Refusal a good thing or a bad thing for the Disney Vacation Club program?

Universal Studios Florida has gone to great lengths--and great expense--to expand its customer base in recent years.  Bringing familiar properties like Harry Potter, The Simpsons and Transformers into its parks has lead to an increase in attendance.  

But Disney Vacation Club owners are bound to the Disney property more than others.  Disney's free airport transportation, physical distance and Disney's ticket price structure (days 5-10 priced very economically) provide challenges to guests considering a Universal trip.
